오늘 밤 일본은 16강 바레인에 이어 8강전에서 이란과 경기를 펼쳤다. 이번 경기는 사우디아라비아전 경기장인 에듀케이션 스타디움에서 열렸다.

모든 의변에도 불구하고 이란은 아시안컵 우승이 유력한는 일본을 이겼다. 일본은 이전 경기에서 좋은 성적을 거두었고, 그 어느 때보다 강했습니다. 그러나 이란의 탄탄한 수비와 공격슛에 힘입어 이란이 2:1로 승리했다.

일본은 전반 이란을 상대로 한 골을 넣는 등 좋은 출발을 보였다. 그러나 경기가 후반으로 넘어가면서 일본의 수비력이 느슨해지며 이란팀의 위협적인 슈팅 기회가 많아지면서 일본이 실점했다.

이란은 오늘 오전 한국전과 마찬가지로 연장전에서 페널티킥을 얻어 경기를 종료할 기회를 잡았다. 알리레자 자한바흐쉬 선수가 페널티킥을 성공시키며 기적적인 역전승으로 경기를 마무리했다.

이란은 다음주 2월 8일 열리는 준결승에 진출한다. 이란의 4강 상대팀은 아직 정해지지 않았으나, 카타르와 우즈베키스탄 중 한 팀이 결정될 예정이며, 내일 새벽 12시 30분에 두 팀은 8강 경기를 치른다.

이번 경기는 결승 진출이 가능한 한국으로서는 큰 다행이다. 일본은 FIFA랭킹 17위로 이번 대회 최강팀이다. 그러나 이번 경기로 인해 일본이 탈락해 이란이 한국을 대신해 결승에 진출할 것으로 예상된다.

A Big Upset in the Asian Cup as Iran Knock Out Title Contender Japan.

After South Korea’s victory against Australia today, Japan had its match against Iran in the quarter finals tonight. It was held in Education Stadium, the identical stadium in which Korea had its victory against Saudi Arabia earlier this week.

Against all odds, Iran beat the presumed victor of the Asian Cup, Japan. Japan had a great performance in the previous matches, and their team was stronger than ever before. However, due to Iran’s strong defense and offensive shots, Iran came out victorious with the score 2:1.

Japan had a solid beginning, as they scored a goal against Iran in the first half. However, as the game shifted to the second half, Japan’s defense loosened, giving great opportunities for threatening shots by the Iran team, resulting in Japan conceding a goal.

Similarly to South Korea’s match earlier today, Iran had its chance to end the game, by receiving a penalty in the extra time given. Player Alireza Jahanbakhsh was successfully able to score the penalty, finishing the game off with a miraculous comeback.

Iran will be moving on to the semi finals that will be held next week, February 8th. The opposing team for Iran in the semi finals have not yet been decided, but will be either Qatar and Uzbekistan, decided tomorrow at 12:30 am, when the both teams have their quarter finals as well. 

This game is a great relief on South Korea’s part, as they were likely to be meeting Japan in the finals. Japan is the strongest team in this competition, with a fifa ranking of 17. However, due to this match, Japan is out of the tournament as it is presumed that Iran will be in the finals with Korea instead.
